For the third consecutive year, the City Council of l’Escala (Alt Empordà, Girona) has announced the “Third Autumn International Research Bursary” for research in the social and natural sciences. The scholarship is awarded to the best project submitted whose theme subject of study is related to the landscape, natural environment, history, archaeology, anthropology, and sociology of l’Escala and its immediate area, in which includes the archaeological site of the Greco-Roman city of Emporion/Emporiae.
Last year, the scholarship winner was Pilar Francès, writer and specialist in historical memory, with the project The citizens from l’Escala deported in the Nazi camps.
The scholarship, endowed with 2,500 euros, allows a three-month stay (between September and December 2025) at the Casa dels Forestals residence in Sant Martí d’Empúries, where the Iberia Graeca Centre headquarters are also located. The applications submission deadline is July 4th. The terms and conditions of the scholarship can be consulted in Catalan, Spanish, and English on the official website of the City Council of l’Escala.
Iberia Graeca is calling for submissions of projects related to archaeological research into the Greek, Iberian, and Roman past of the area.
