In issue 30, corresponding to the year 2021, of the journal Recerques del Museu d’Alcoi, Dr. Enric Verdú Parra has just published the article “El poblamiento antiguo en el Penyal d’Ifac (Calp, Alacant). La cerámica ática” (pp. 79-104), in which he presents an interesting set of Attic pottery red-figures and black-glass from the Iberian settlement of Ifac. The site, already known from ancient times and where Rhys Carpenter in 1921 erroneously proposed to locate the Greek colony of Hemeroskopeion, has been systematically excavated by the Museu Arqueològic d’Alacant since 2005. The Attic pottery studied by Verdú come from the excavations carried out between 2005 and 2015, with chronologies spanning from the end of the 5th century-beginning of the 4th century BC to the last quarter of the 4th century BC, with an especial concentration between 400 and 350 BC. Its presence in Ifac is the result of the economic relations established by the Contestants with the Greek traders of Emporion (Empúries, l’Escala, Girona).
