A Cerâmica Grega na Fachada Atlântica da Península Ibérica

The Universidade do Porto has just published the book by Dr. Daniela Ferreira A Cerâmica Grega na Fachada Atlântica da Península Ibérica, the result of her Doctoral Thesis presented in 2019 at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and directed by professors Rui Morais and Ángel Morillo. This work catalogs and analyzes 920 examples of Greek pottery (tableware, lamps and amphorae) from 48 archaeological sites in Portugal and the Spanish Autonomous Community of Galicia. The materials studied are dated from the late 7th century-early 6th century BC to the last quarter of the 4th century BC and allow us to understand the evolution and importance of the trade of Greek pottery productions in the far west of Iberia. The author has carried out an excellent research work, directly consulting the pottery materials studied, which has allowed her to describe the archaeological context in which they appeared, their productive technical characteristics (types of glaze, pastes, decorations, workshops,...) and make quality graphic documentation. Undoubtedly, this publication is now a reference for the study of Greek pottery in the West of the Iberian Peninsula. Congratulations to Dr. Daniela Ferreira for all the effort made in this work.
